Welcome New Café Etico
Sales Coordinator!
We are so pleased to welcome Francisco Gómez López to the CoDevelopment family. Fransisco joins us as the new Café Etico Sales Coordinator. He is currently a PhD student in Interdisciplinary Studies at UBC and a Scholar at the Liu Institute for Global Issues. For more than 10 years he worked in the private sector implementing sustainable management practices for plant nurseries in Metro Vancouver. During this time Francisco’s passion has led him to organize several community events and conferences on issues that affect the Latin American community involving: immigration, land, sustainability, Free Trade Agreements and human rights. Before coming to Canada, Francisco worked with various rural communities in Colombia engaging in food security programs and organic coffee growth production. He is excited to be part of the CoDev team and their continue work with Canadian and Latin American partners. At his free time he enjoys writing, playing soccer and playing guitar. Come in and meet Francisco when you buy your deliciious Café Etico.

Urgent Action! Ecuador!

CoDev's newest Latin American Partner, the National Union of Educators, was just decertified by the Ecuadorian government. Please send a letter to Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa asking him to withdraw the measure. This video captures the moment the offices are take. ***
August 30 -- International Day of the Disappeared

The disappearance of thousands of victims across Latin America is remembered today (as it is ever day) around the world. Let's take a moment to remember those lost and read this opinion piece by Belen Fernandez. *** Demonstration in Chile

Approximately one million Chileans participated this week in a massive demonstration to call for a re-nationalization of the country's pension plan - which was privatized during the US-imposed dictatorship of Gen. Agosto Pinochet. Read more here. *** Some Good News from Colombia

The final peace accord was completed yesterday. Of course, it still has to be ratified in a national referendum, but after more than 50 years of armed conflict, it is the closest the country has come yet to ending the war. Additional information can be found here.
