SumOfUs members just won, and won big -- California just signed the "Blackfish Bill" into law and banned Seaworld and other companies from imprisoning Orcas for profit.
This only happened because of SumOfUs members. We took the petition signatures to the California legislature -- 1.7 million SumOfUs names in all. Our petition was specifically cited by the bill sponsor -- all to massive media attention. See for yourself -- the kids that volunteered their time to deliver our names were so cute:
Millions of SumOfUs members kept sharing the petition with their friends and families, keeping the pressure on.
Then we released a video game to show exactly how boring it is to be a whale in captivity:

The relentless pressure worked: it led to SeaWorld closing its orca program a few months ago. California signing its bill into law is the icing on the cake.
The Orcas simply wouldn't be safe without SumOfUs members taking action. It's so awesome to see the power of people in action.
When millions of us stand together against powerful corporations, the results can be amazing. Not just for animals in captivity -- but for our bees, our democracies, our human rights and our environment. And it feels great to come together and win real victories. That’s why we need everyone more than ever.
This isn't the only victory SumOfUs has won for animals over corporations. When Cecil the Lion was shot dead by an American dentist in Zimbabwe, our community turned that attention into real action to protect wild animals. We persuaded a dozen airlines to ban the transportation of dead endangered species on their airlines; meaning illegal trophy hunters would no longer be able to get their trophies home. And we got FCUK, Asos, Zara, and Topshop to stop plucking angora rabbits of their long, soft fur for mass-produced jumpers, scarves and hats causes untold suffering and trauma to the animals.
All of this is only possible because of the support of SumOfUs members. We want to keep winning, but we need your help.
