Death Threats in Haiti


Open Society Foundations The staff at FOKAL, our foundation in Haiti, recently faced two kinds of death threats.

The first was inspired by religious fundamentalists who threatened to burn FOKAL’s building to the ground—along with everyone in it. The second arrived in the form of Hurricane Matthew, which left a swath of disease and destruction in its wake.

Through it all, our colleagues in Haiti have remained steadfastly focused on their mission.
