Don't let Monsanto undermine EPA's scientific review

r1 ... PAN PAN Monsanto is trying to undermine the agency's scientific review process

Dear Paov,

With increasing public scrutiny on the potential health harms of glyphosate, Monsanto is pulling out all the stops to exonerate its flagship herbicide — including attacking the credibility of scientists reviewing glyphosate for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Speak Up! Join us in urging the agency to stand up to Monsanto — and follow independent science.

In a letter to EPA, Monsanto claims that scientists participating in the agency’s Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) on glyphosate are biased because they have publicly expressed concerns about the legitimacy of industry-funded studies — or have previously raised concerns about the chemical’s connection to cancer.

In short, Monsanto is attempting to silence those who don’t toe its line. And EPA responded to these bully tactics by postponing the SAP meeting.

Tell EPA to keep its glyphosate review on track and take a close look at independent, peer-reviewed science — even if Monsanto doesn't like it.

Scientists around the world continue to raise red flags about glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s RoundUp. Just last year, the UN’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) determined glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”

Now it’s EPA’s turn to take a closer look at glyphosate. And Monsanto is doing its best to ensure the process is skewed toward corporate interests.

This won't do. Tell EPA to stand strong in the face of Monsanto's bully tactics.

Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in the U.S., with more than 500 million pounds applied to farmland in the last 20 years.

This product is hugely profitable for Monsanto and the corporation is out to protect its bottom line at all costs. But it’s up to EPA to protect the health and well-being of communities across the country.

Let the agency know we’re paying close attention to this one!
