Friends,
The federal government will announce its decision on the Kinder Morgan pipeline as early as next week.
If Prime Minister Trudeau approves this pipeline, he will break all of the promises he has made on climate change and Indigenous rights. It’s time to take one final stand to get this message across to to him.
This is an all hands on deck moment. November 21st will be a national day of vigils to stop the Kinder Morgan pipeline. Right now, there are over 40 vigils planned across the country -- but we noticed there isn’t one planned in your community.

It’s time for Prime Minister Trudeau to pick a side.
Since September, opposition to Kinder Morgan has grown to a national phenomenon. Just this week, people in London, UK, staged a sit in against Kinder Morgan, and Canadian youth delivered over 210,000 signatures against the pipeline to the Minister of Environment at the UN climate talks in Morocco [1]. This Saturday, thousands of people in Vancouver will march against it.
Key leaders in BC have been vocal about their opposition to the pipeline -- including the Mayor of Vancouver, the Grand Chief from the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, and even Liberal party MPs.
Will PM Trudeau stand with the dozens of First Nations, communities, climate scientists, politicians, and the hundreds of thousands of people opposed to this pipeline? Or will he choose to stand with Big Oil and Kinder Morgan’s climate denying CEO?
Next Monday people across Canada will remind the Prime Minister that we expect him to stand with us, and keep his promises by rejecting this pipeline. We would love to see your community stand with us -- sign up to host a vigil near you.
These actions will be a moment of beauty, but also real strength. I hope you will be there with me to see it.
Onwards,
Atiya
P.S. Wednesday night, I was part of a webinar on the Kinder Morgan Vigils with Bill McKibben, Rueben George from the Tsleil-Waututh Nation (who is fighting Kinder Morgan on the frontlines), and inspiring leaders from the Canadian Youth Delegation to COP 22 -- if you missed it, you can catch the recording here.
1. The countdown begins: all hands on deck to fight Kinder Morgan.
