A win for animals: African trophy hunting expo CANCELLED!

Dear PAOV,

This news is guaranteed to brighten your Friday.

The Holiday Inn just CANCELLED an African trophy hunting expo after thousands of you signed our online petition!

Set to take place next month in Toronto, the expo would... have promoted African trophy hunting safaris to Canadians.

We knew we had to stand up against cruelty and needless killing, so we started a petition encouraging the Holiday Inn to do the right thing. With so much support, so quickly, it made national headlines.

Last night, we learned that the Holiday Inn had dropped the expo!

We're thrilled that they responded so quickly. By refusing to play any part in the senseless slaughter of majestic wild African animals for trophies, the Holiday Inn is showing true leadership.

This victory is entirely thanks to the thousands of supporters like you that signed on and asked the hotel to drop the cruel event.

On African trophy hunting safaris, hunters pay for the chance to gun down exotic animals, including elephants, rhinos, hippos, leopards, cheetahs, lions, giraffes, and zebras -- many of them endangered of threatened. After Cecil the Lion's killing sparked global outrage over trophy hunting, more and more companies are refusing to play any role in the cruel industry. Without an effective legal regime to protect exotic animals like elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, and giraffes, support from companies like the Holiday Inn is critical. Thank you for protecting these majestic animals from becoming hunting trophies!
