Solidarity for Christmas

Solidarity for Christmas r1 ...

This year Canadian workers across the country will be spending the holidays on picket lines. Lines have been up for a few days in some cases to almost 3 years in Chicoutimi, where car dealership workers have been locked-out since February of 2013.

At this time of year a little solidarity makes a big difference. Here at LabourStart we try to make it easy for you to make things just a little bit better for those out on the line. So before you head off to join friends and family for a well-deserved break, please take a few seconds to make the lives of some of our sisters and brothers just a bit better.

On strike since early September, NSUPE members at Canadian Blood Services in Charlottetown have been adopted by a CUPE local. The 'adoption` (see the CBC coverage HERE) and the ongoing support of their own union means that the strikers` families will still be able to enjoy the holidays . But what those workers really want and need for 2016 is a new, decent collective agreement with a living wage and workable hours. You can help make that wish come true.

Send CBS a solidarity e-mail HERE. A copy of your message will go to the strikers. It will make a difference and it will only take a few seconds.

When you`re done sending the Charlottetown sisters some holiday solidarity and if you can spare another minute or two we are also running campaigns on behalf of unions and labour activists in China, Korea, Libya, Estonia and Kyrgyzstan. You can find all our active campaigns HERE.
Thank-you, enjoy the holidays and have a safe and happy new year!
