LabourStart 2016 Global Solidarity Conference
Migration, Climate, Precarity: Connecting Our Struggles and Strategies
Ryerson University, Toronto, ON
May 6-8, 2016
Call for Proposals
The world of work and workers is facing profound changes and challenges, due to interconnected processes of migration, climate change and the rise of precarious work. However, these issues are often thought of and organized around separately, preventing us from developing effective strategies for increasing workers’ power.
LabourStart invites proposals for presentations from activists, educators, organizers, researchers and others committed to building a stronger global labour movement in the face of the challenges of migration, climate change, and various forms of precarity. Presenters are encouraged to share strategies for building solidarity locally, regionally and internationally, mobilizing union and community members, developing and using knowledge that aids our struggles, and communicating effectively (both to members and the broader public).
Presentations that highlight successful campaigns and discuss the components of success are especially welcome. The conference committee especially encourages interactive presentations that engage participants and provides them with concrete tools they can apply and adapt to their own struggles.
Proposals should include title, full contact information for all authors, presenters or participants including organization/affiliation, mailing address, email address, and phone number. Proposals need to contain an explanation of 300 - 500 words that describe the content and format of the presentation.
Proposals should be submitted by 20 February 2016 to to the conference committee by reply e-mail.
In Solidarity,
Derek Blackadder
