Council of Canadians joins with allies to demand Trudeau respond to violence in Honduras
The Council of Canadians has joined with MiningWatch Canada, Rights Action and numerous other organizations in sending a letter to the Canadian government following the murders of land defenders Berta Cáceres and Nelson Garcia, ongoing threats against the Council of Indigenous and Popular Organizations of Honduras, and the precarious situation of Mexican activist Gustavo Castro, who witnessed Berta's murder.
St. John's chapter concerned by secret federal-provincial talks on CETA and the fisheries
The Council of Canadians St. John's chapter is concerned its provincial government is willing to support the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement and trade away its constitutional right to minimum processing requirements in exchange for a short-term cash infusion from the federal government.
