With just a week to go before LabourStart 2016 at Ryerson University in Toronto the final fine-tuning of the conference programme is about done.
Speakers and workshop leaders include folks like Lee Chuk Yan, the General-Secretary of the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions and Larry Cohen, the Labour Advisor to the Bernie Sanders campaign.
There are skills workshops too. Campaign Gears (see their website HERE) are running a series of sessions on everything from how to make the most of Nation Builder through to using your mobile phone to make high-quality campaign videos.
And this year we even have two book launches happening. One's a surprise that won't be announced until the conference is under way.
The Graphic History Collective will be at the conference. They'll be running a workshop of course but they'll also be releasing their latest: Drawn to Change: Graphic Histories of Working-Class Struggle.
Speaking of the GHC, don't forget that May Day is even closer than LS2016. One way to celebrate what the world (outside North America) calls Labour Day and to learn more about its origins (and why Canada doesn't officially recognize it as a holiday) is to read the GHC's May Day: A Graphic History of Protest.
Order your copy HERE. And if you haven't done so already, register HERE for LS2016.
Happy May Day!
See you next week.
