r1 URGENT: Ask your MP to support Bill C-246 r33

Dear PAOV,

Animals urgently need your help.

Parliament will vote on an important animal protection bill on Wednesday, and we need your help to ensure it passes.

Bill C-246—the Modernizing Animal Protections Act—would update Canada's broken animal cruelty laws, ban cat and dog fur, and ban shark fin imports. Put forward by MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, this much-needed bill would help bring Canada's animal laws into the 21st century.

Most of us strongly support Bill C-246, including hockey legend Don Cherry and the Toronto Star, Canada's biggest newspaper.

But well-funded special interest groups representing hunters, anglers, and farmers are spreading misinformation about the bill and trying to block it.

That's why I'm asking you to contact your MP today and ask them to support Bill C-246. MPs need a reminder that Canadians want this legislation to pass!
