Victory! No more whales in tanks

r1 Parks Board votes to ban cetaceans from Vancouver Aquarium r33

Dear PAOV,

The Vancouver Parks Board made history last week when it voted to ban the Vancouver Aquarium from the cruel practice of displaying whales and dolphins. Amazingly, the vote was unanimous—all seven commissioners agreed to protect cetaceans from captivity!

Imprisoning smart, sensitive animals like orcas, belugas, and dolphins is cruel and unacceptable. This victory is an important milestone in the fight to save these creatures from living miserable lives and dying heartbreaking deaths in tiny tanks. We applaud the hardworking animal advocates who convinced the Parks Board to make history last week.

This new ban has created incredible momentum. Now, please join us in supporting Bill S-203, a Senate bill that would... impose a national ban on keeping whales in tanks. Bill S-203 is undergoing Senate committee hearings this month, but there is still a long road to go before this bill becomes law. Politicians need to hear from compassionate people like you!

Thank you for all you do,
