The Council of Canadians Prince Albert and Regina chapters were at the 'Stand Up for Saskatchewan' rally outside the provincial legislature this afternoon.
The Ottawa Citizen reports, "The official unveiling of the new Mooney’s Bay Park is set for Canada Day 2017, but it is already the... source of another controversy, this time over what one critic says is cultural insensitivity."
Almost 10,000 people have now responded to this Council of Canadians online action alert that tells Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, "It is imperative that the renegotiation process [for NAFTA] be fair and transparent, and include full consultation with the public, civil society and Indigenous peoples."
Twenty-two chapters will hand-deliver copies of Maude Barlow's book Boiling Point: Government Neglect, Corporate Abuse, and Canada’s Water Crisis to their Member of Parliament before the Trudeau government makes its decision on the Navigation Protection Act on or before July 21.
The Council of Canadians Ottawa chapter is planning to greet 'Walk 4 PR' when it arrives on Parliament Hill on Monday May 29 at 5 pm as a way to continue to put pressure on the Liberal government to move forward on proportional representation
The Council of Canadians London chapter is supporting MP Irene Mathyssen's private members Bill C-355 that seeks to restore the Thames River to the list of rivers protected under the Navigation Protection Act.
The Council of Canadians Fredericton chapter protested outside a Fredericton Federal Liberal Riding Associations meeting today to demand that Liberal MP Matt DeCourcey fulfill his promise to implement electoral reform.
