Here's why the new Canada Food Guide is good for animals

Dear PAOV,

For the first time in over a decade, Health Canada is planning some progressive changes to the Canada Food Guide! A draft of the government's new healthy food recommendations was just released, and it's good news for animals: The draft promotes plant-based protein sources and eliminates dairy as a food group.

The new recommendations also encourage Canadians to avoid saturated fat, which is found almost exclusively in animal-based foods.

A shift away from meat and dairy products is an exciting change that would greatly benefit the lives of animals, human health, and the environment.

But the meat, dairy, and egg industries won't let this... happen without a fight. They're already preparing to spend big lobbying dollars to protect their profits. These industries are a nightmare for farmed animals, and we must join together to make sure they don't win.

PAOV, the recommendations aren't final yet, so it's important to have your say before July 25. Let the government know you support these important changes to the Canada Food Guide!

Thank you for everything you do for animals.

Sincerely,

Anna Pippus
