For the first time in more than a decade, allies of the government are now looking for new ways to speak to the people—not only in Venezuela, but throughout the world. No matter what happens as the crisis unfolds, the resurgence of Venezuela’s independent media has already reminded us why a free press is an essential part of an open society.
