People routinely get away with committing unconscionable acts of cruelty to innocent animals without any consequences. It happens every single day: through systematic, industrial scale abuse on factory farms, puppy mills, and laboratories; in zoos, theme parks and circuses; on our streets, in our neighbourhoods, or in wildlife.
The only thing more outrageous than animal abuse itself is when the crime goes unaccounted for. What do you do when authorities look the other way for animal abuse? Where do you turn when law enforcement fails to bring animal abusers to justice?
For millions, it’s Change.org. We empower you to sound the alarm on animal cruelty. Let’s take a look at how Change.org users are demanding justice for animals.
Barbara from Montreal wanted to help do just that. After she saw chains like PetSmart and Petland stop selling puppies from all breeders, and focus on encouraging adoption, she wanted Kijiji — Canada’s largest classifieds website — to do the same. So far more than 124,000 people have joined her fight.
Barbara’s petition is just one example of hundreds fighting the puppy mill industry. Each day, they help bring us closer to world without irresponsible breeders.
Change.org members empower people like Barbara everyday. Join the growing membership community today.
That’s why Mark, working with Mercy for Animals, started a petition calling on Loblaws to enact an animal welfare policy that would require Lilydale and other suppliers to end animal abuse in their food chains. At last count, more than 61,000 people have joined Mark in his fight.
Mark’s story is inspiring and luckily not unique. Many are holding companies responsible to end animal cruelty wherever possible. It’s exciting to see the impact these campaigns are having on pushing the private sector to lead on protecting animals.
Membership helps bring the resources needed to win to those on the frontlines of the issues you care about. Mark is just one of the many people your membership ensures gets the support needed to have an impact.
Dan refused to let this horrific behavior continue off the hook. Since 250,000 people have signed his petition, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has opened an investigation, and the Manatee County Prosecutor’s Office has stated that they may be announcing charges soon.
These are just a few of the many ways thousands of animal lovers have turned to Change.org’s free online petitions to wake up the authorities and force them to take action to hold animal abusers accountable for their crimes. Will you take a stand, too? Join Change.org’s membership program today.
