Whales don't belong in tanks at the Vancouver Aquarium

We're going to court to fight for their freedom r33

Dear PAOV,

The Vancouver Aquarium is at it again. This time, they're suing the Vancouver Park Board for their courageous decision to ban the Aquarium from keeping whales and dolphins in tanks.

So we’re stepping in.

Last week, Animal Justice and Zoocheck filed an application to intervene in this crucial case. We believe that whales and dolphins should be swimming free in the ocean—not condemned to captivity so they can generate cash for aquariums.

We're especially disturbed that the Aquarium is claiming that keeping whales in captivity is a form of free expression, protected as a Charter right.
If the Aquarium wins, there could be dire consequences for all animals confined in zoos and aquariums. It would be difficult for politicians to enact any law protecting them from captivity.

PAOV, thank you for generous support. You're the reason why we can be there in the courtroom—to fight for the whales and dolphins at the Vancouver Aquarium, but also for every other animal kept in the misery of a zoo or aquarium.

Thank you for being a supporter of Animal Justice, and for everything else you do to protect animals!

Sincerely,

Camille Labchuk
