Living in a puppy mill, a mother dog will be forcefully bred over and over and over again, for years on end. She’s often malnourished and not allowed proper exercise or fresh air. She lives in a windowless, cramped and filthy cage soaked with urine. Her paws are deformed from years of sitting on the metal wire cage floor. She has never seen a veterinarian and her fur is painfully matted with feces. When the mother dog can no longer give birth, she is no longer profitable and is dumped in an animal shelter and euthanized.
Each litter of puppies she delivers is another round of heartbreak. At just eight weeks old, her puppies are taken away, loaded onto a truck, and shipped thousands of miles away to pet stores. Many of the puppies are gravely sick, and some don’t even survive the multi-day drive.
Barbara from Montreal is fighting to put a stop to it. She started her petition 3+ years ago and to this day, her campaign continues to make waves. Her mission is to make it harder for puppy mill operators to sell their puppies, and thereby disrupt their profit-making scheme. But she, and others involved in taking down the puppy mill industry need YOUR help.
