We want to run an open letter with the Leadnow community's priorities in Ottawa's leading political newspaper next week, in time for when MPs return. But we need your help to raise the money to do it. Can you chip in to help us place the ad?
Chip inWhat an amazing response - yesterday thousands of us weighed in on our top issues going into the fall session of Parliament - and here are our top three priorities:
- Pushing for more reforms to Harper's secret police bill, C-51
- Getting toxic ISDS provisions out of NAFTA
- Calling for more funding for clean drinking water on reserves
Because well over 5000 people responded to this quick survey, we want to deliver the Leadnow community’s priorities to MPs in a full page open letter, published in the Hill Times. The paper is publishing a special insider's guide to the fall priorities for MPs and staffers, and they are holding space for us - but I have to get back to them right away.
This ad would be published next week, at the same time that the Conservatives are spinning up a plan to distract the government with fear-mongering about asylum seekers and tax reform.
If we place a massive open letter in the Ottawa paper, signed by thousands of us, outlining our priorities for the fall Parliament, we’ll show Liberal MPs what really matters to everyday Canadians - and that we’re ready to fight for those issues.
The deadline to place the ad is today, but we need $5000 to cover costs. Can you pitch in $5, $10 or $15 so we can get the ad ordered?
Here’s what the open letter will look like:

These are the Leadnow community’s priorities for the fall session of Parliament, and we want to make sure Liberal MPs see them as they head back to work on Monday.
The Conservatives have already pledged to ramp up the fear mongering by making the fall session about tax reform, asylum seekers and Omar Khadr.[1-2] But there are other big issues on the table, and we can’t afford to let the Conservatives knock this government off focus and away from their promises.
Hearing from thousands of Canadians from coast to coast to coast about what they care about will help the Liberals stay the course and will make the Conservatives look out of touch with reality.
It will also demonstrate that the Leadnow community has the numbers - and the passion - to push this government to follow through on their pledge to be different than the last government.
We need to get this message out urgently - and we’re up against a tight timeline to place the ad. We’re still short of what we need to purchase the space, so can you help out by chipping in $5, $10 or $15?
I joined Leadnow because alone, my voice could never reach the Prime Minister, and because the cash in my wallet could never match the wealth of powerful lobbyists with access to Ottawa. That's what's so special about Leadnow. We don't have behind-closed-doors meetings that we leak to journalists, and we're not bankrolled by wealthy donors. When Leadnow comes together, we are far more powerful than any individual.
