Oil pipelines in the Great Lakes

r1

PAOV —

In 2010, a pipeline carrying heavy Canadian crude ruptured – spilling over 20,000 barrels of oil into the Kalamazoo river. Operated by Canadian pipeline operator Enbridge, the Kalamazoo oil disaster is still on record as one the largest inland oil spills in U.S. History.

Today, another Enbridge pipeline that’s already 14 years past its 50-year lifespan and still in operation, is threatening to repeat the disaster in an area of the Great Lakes with strong currents that can quickly spread an oil slick throughout the freshwater network.

The Michigan-based Oil & Water Don’t Mix coalition believes Enbridge’s aging pipeline in the Great Lakes isn’t worth the risk. They started this petition to tell Michigan officials that it’s time to pull the plug on the pipeline – before it’s too late. Please sign and share this petition if you agree!
