Is Horgan about to approve Site C?

This is not good. Political experts are saying that John Horgan’s BC NDP government could be on the verge of greenlighting the Site C dam any day now. [1-2]

Cancelling the project looked like a political no-brainer last month when the BC Utilities Commission exposed that the dam is behind schedule and billions over budget. [3]

Since then, powerful lobbyists representing major BC NDP donors in the building trades launched a well-funded campaign bullying the NDP Government to ignore the BCUC report and build the dam anyway. Now, it looks like the government could be about to cave into their pressure. [4]

If we’re going to stop Site C we need to raise the political stakes now.

The NDP government can’t afford to alienate the progressive voters who helped them get elected -- and a flood of messages from NDP voters, donors and party members pledging to pull our support if the government approves Site C could convince them that going forward with the dam would be political suicide.

But the decision on Site C could come as early as tomorrow, so we need to act fast. If you've ever voted, donated or been a member of the BC NDP, will you send a message to the NDP government warning them that you’ll pull your support if they go forward with Site C?

I'LL CANCEL MY NDP MEMBERSHIP IF HORGAN APPROVES SITE C

I'LL THINK TWICE ABOUT VOTING NDP NEXT TIME IF HORGAN APPROVES SITE C

If you’re not sure which button to click (maybe you donate to the NDP and vote NDP, for example), don’t worry -- you can pick one button, and then customize your letter to describe other ways you’ll pull support from the NDP if they betray us on Site C.

I’ve never asked you to do something like this before -- and I wouldn’t be asking if it weren’t important.

There’s so much at stake. Site C would flood precious farmland, drown habitat for grizzlies and wolves, and trample Indigenous rights. As if that’s not bad enough, we don’t even need the power, but our hydro rates would go through the roof to pay for it. [5-7]

The government is making up their minds on Site C right now, and if you’ve ever supported the NDP, your voice could be the thing that tips the scales against this disastrous project.  Politicians know they can’t ignore their donors, members and voters, and that means your message could have a huge impact.

So what do you say, Supa, will you join hundreds of other NDP supporters in letting the government know that going forward with Site C could cost them your support?

We’re in this together,
