A,
This time last year, I’d just started as Executive Director of SumOfUs. I wanted to be excited, but a lot of the time I felt overwhelmed. Trump had just been elected, and in the UK -- where I live -- we’d just voted to leave the European Union. I felt like things kept getting worse, and we had to figure out how SumOfUs could help make things better.
A year on, I couldn’t feel more differently - and that’s because of SumOfUs members like you, courageously standing up to the biggest corporations in the world, to put people and planet above profit. You could have given up hope when things looked bleak at the end of 2016, but instead, you did the opposite - making 2017 a year of vital breakthroughs for our campaigns.
This year, you’ve helped push back against the dangerous merger between Monsanto and Bayer, two pesticide giants, that could end up controlling the world’s food supply from farm to plate.
Now, I’m asking for your help to make 2018 bigger and better. SumOfUs members like you are incredibly generous in supporting our work. But for all our 2018 plans to come together, we need to be able to think long-term -- and for that, we need to bring on 2,500 new monthly donors contributing a few coins each by 31 December.
Can you please give a small monthly gift to make 2018 a huge year for putting people over profit?

Corporations have pots of money to try and shut us down, and most people believe that people power just can’t compete.
But SumOfUs members know the truth. Corporations were made by human beings, and they can be changed by human beings, too.
If we don’t like the way they are doing business, we can stand up to them, and demand they change. In the end, they can’t ignore us because we’re their customers, workers and shareholders. And when election day comes, it’s us that chooses which government will make the rules they use to do business.
2018 could be another year of breakthroughs -- with your incredible support. SumOfUs has so many of the things we need to make the world a better place: generous, committed members all over the world, a lean and efficient staff team (there are only 36 of us!) and the technology we need to get the job done.
But we need to know how to plan for our future, and for that we need your ongoing support before this year ends so we can plan to make it happen. Will you help reach our goal of 2,500 ongoing supporters by 31 December?
