Mark the 5 year anniversary of Idle No More on Dec. 21st in Toronto!
Five years ago we were honoured to support the beginnings of Idle No More with round dances, flash mobs, and marches across the country.

The Council backs the Juruna and Arara peoples in their fight against the Volta Grande open-pit gold mine
In March 2014, The Council of Canadians joined the Belo Sun No! campaign opposing Toronto-based Belo Sun... Mining Corp.'s plans to build the massive Volta Grande open-pit gold mine in Brazil.

The Council opposes the Trudeau Liberals passing C-23 border pre-clearance law
The federal Liberal government has just passed C-23. It allows US border guards to carry guns, conduct strip-searches and more in Canadian airports.

The Council endorses women's groups that say neo-liberalism is sexist
The Council of Canadians endorses the statement by 164 women's rights organizations that says, "Neoliberalism is sexist and is simply incapable of supporting gender-equitable and just sustainable development, no matter how it is spun."

The Council endorses faith-based principles for the renegotiation of NAFTA
The Council of Canadians endorses this statement by the American Friends Service Committee, the Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach, the Franciscan Action Network, the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns, People of Faith for Access to Medicines, the Sisters of Mercy's Institute Justice Team, and other allies.

France says Canada will have to stop its extraction of fossil fuels in order to fight climate change
