Tim Horton's National Day of Action

Tim Horton's National Day of Action r1 ...
UPDATE!

Friday is a National Day of Action in Solidarity With Tim Horton's Workers
The fight to get Ontario Tim Horton's workers what was taken from many of them has expanded. The labour movement is out to ensure that minimum wage increases in other provinces and territories result in real gains for workers. And to reverse the rollbacks in Ontario.

The shell game Ontario Tim Horton's workers experienced must never happen elsewhere. Employers need to know we're watching and that we will respond.

I wish I could, as I did last week, point you to a list of events you can attend on Friday. But things are moving too fast, too many people are doing too much in too many places.

There are worse problems.

Much of the local organizing for Friday is being done by Labour Councils using Facebook. Check your Labour Council's Facebook page and look for the EVENTS button. Ditto your provincial or territorial Federation of Labour.

Nothing union-organized happening nearby? Leadnow will not only connect you with the events its members are 'hosting' across the country but will allow you to set up your own and have them do much of the organizing for you. Organize your own event and add to the joyful confusion on Friday!

If none of that works for you e-mail us here and we'll try and connect you with an event you can get to. For the Ontario rallies last week we fielded over 100 messages and were able to help dozens of folks find a rally they could attend. If you have trouble accessing or using the web call or text 905-376-3110 and we'll see what we can come up with for you.

Attending a rally on Friday or not, be sure and send Tim Horton's your thoughts on all this by adding your name to the $15 and Fairness campaign's online petition HERE.

IMPORTANT: The labour movement is NOT calling for a boycott of Tim Horton's. These rallies are to support the workers who are being forced to pay for their own wage increase and to stop this from spreading. Our goal is to place enough pressure on individual franchise owners and the corporation as a whole to reinstate paid breaks and benefits.

Further updates that come our way will be e-mailed if time allows. They will be tweeted on our English- and French-language Canadian news feeds. Follow @LabourStartCanE and @LabourStartCanF to get them.

Have fun on Friday.

In Solidarity,

Derek Blackadder
