Urge your Gov. to ban brain-harming chlorpyrifosDear PAOV,
In the wake of the federal government’s failure to ban chlorpyrifos, state governments are beginning to step up to protect the health of children and communities.
In March of last year, the new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt reversed course on a planned ban of chlorpyrifos.
Last month, state scientists in California officially listed chlorpyrifos as a “developmental toxicant,” affirming that the chemical harms developing brains. This is an important step toward state-level action to protect children, as well as families, farmers and farmworkers exposed to drift.
Other states are taking action as well. A resolution calling for action on chlorpyrifos was introduced in Minnesota last spring, and state legislation is now moving forward in Maryland and New Jersey.
The science is crystal clear: this pesticide can harm children’s health and development, even at the low levels found as residue in food. It also puts farmworkers and rural communities at risk.
Urge your Governor to join efforts to get this harmful chemical out of our food system, now.
Thank you for all you do!
