Frozen solid. That is how police described a dog found frozen to death on a porch in Ohio. It’s heartbreaking to imagine, but sadly, not an isolated case. For each of us who love our pets and treat them like family, there are those who would leave their dog outside in subzero temperatures to die.
Hundreds of thousands of Canadians have signed petitions calling for policies that better protect pets and animals from abuse — ending cruelty like pets being left in the cold. Sadly, many provinces in Canada lack basic legislation for pets in extreme weather, and local bylaws vary wildly.
It’s for this reason so many people turn to Change.org. Our tools allow them to quickly raise the alarm on acts of animal cruelty, push for better laws protecting pets, and put a spotlight on local law enforcement when they fail to act.
There is so much work to be done to push more policies that protect pets when cold weather hits. But we need your help. Become a Change.org Member today to support animal advocates and help their petitions win, and more.
What does your contribution do? It ensures an open and independent place for anyone to help animals, access to a network of tens of millions of animal lovers across the country and world, and the support needed to influence decision makers to take action.
We are proud to be a powerful tool for those fighting on behalf of animals. You can help fuel the fight against animal cruelty today, and well into the future, by becoming a Change.org Member for as little as $5 CAD per month.
Thank you for being a voice for the voiceless,
