Our privacy policy

I’ve been working with my team at SumOfUs to update our Privacy Policy -- so we can make it easier for you to understand how we use and protect your information to carry out the mission of putting people and planet over profit.

As part of this we’ve also improved our transparency to you: our website shows more clearly how we’re funded and what we do with your donations.

Our new privacy policy came into effect on Friday, May 25, 2018. Here are the biggest updates:

  • We’ve reorganised our Privacy Policy to make it easier to understand the data we have, how we use and protect it, and your choices.
  • We’ve removed outdated parts of our Privacy Policy, which covered the create your own petition platform which we no longer offer.
  • We are restricting our services to people over the age of 16.
  • We’ve made it easier for you to request changes to how we... communicate with you, creating a new privacy contact page on our website.

You can always find our privacy policy here. We link to it on all our web pages.

You can stop receiving our emails by unsubscribing with this link, which we also include in all the emails we send you.

If you have questions or requests about your information, my colleague in the Netherlands, Eoin, is your best point of contact. You can find his contact details here. Our dedicated Member Services team is also always available to help and you can reach them anytime by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Our community of millions of people like you act as a global consumer watchdog – together we run and win campaigns to hold the biggest corporations in the world accountable. To campaign effectively we need to connect with people like you, so we maintain a secure database of member contact details and actions. We store your data securely, and never sell or rent that data to anyone else. Your privacy is important to us.

The other big update on our website is our expanded “how we’re funded” webpage, where you can read about where our funding comes from and how we spend it. We also link to our audited financial statements at the end of the page.

Campaigns to put people over profit cost money. The support you give to SumOfUs is so critical: we do not accept money from corporations or governments. We’re 100% independent and focused on our mission: curbing corporate power.

None of us alone may be able to match the bank balances of the companies we take on. But members like you have shown that when we act together, we become powerful in the face of corporate power.

Thank you for being a part of this community,
Glen, Eoin and the team at SumOfUs

SumOfUs is a community of people from around the world committed to curbing the growing power of corporations. We want to buy from, work for and invest in companies that respect the environment, treat their workers well and respect democracy. And we’re not afraid to stand up to them when they don’t.
