r18. This June, CoDev Sponsors 2 Special Events with Speakers and Films about Human Rights in Guatemala!
This Monday, June 11, come and see the Canadian premier of “In Her Own Voice” about the life and work of the unstoppable Guatemalan feminist and lesbian activist Congresswoman Sandra Moran. Sandra will also be speaking at the event. All proceeds from the event with Sandra will go to the families of 3 Campesino Committee of the Highlands (CCDA) organizers who were assassinated in May. The CCDA are the producers of Café Etico’s Guatemalan coffee.
June 24, CoDev and the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre are proud to present the BC premier of “Fearless,” a new film about the work of Guatemalan families to bring to justice those responsible for the forced disappearance, torture and murder of 183 Guatemalans included in a “military diary” leaked to human rights organizations in 1999. The making of this film was part of the reparations demanded of the Guatemalan State by the families of the disappeared. The film is followed by a Q&A with Paolo Estrada of the Children of the Disappeared (H.I.J.O.s – Guatemala) and one of the protagonists of “Fearless.” follow on Twitter | friend on Facebook | forward to a friend Copyright © 2018 CoDevelopment Canada, All rights reserved.
