Thank you!

Thank you! r1 ...

In early June, at the request of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), LabourStart launched an online campaign in support of workers at DPDHL Express in Turkey who had been walking the picket line since 17 July 2017.

Their demand was a simple one: the company needed to recognise the union and open negotiations.

Last week, we learned that "DHL Turkey and Tümtis have agreed to start negotiations on a collective labour agreement" according to a statement put out by the ITF.

This is fantastic news.

The main reason for this is, of course, the determination and courage of those union members in Turkey.

The support given by the ITF and its affiliate unions around the world was also hugely significant.

But I wanted to personally thank all of you, and especially the 6,769 of you who supported our online campaign.

This certainly played a role in the last few weeks as we aimed to convince the company to finally come to the negotiating table.

Online campaigns work.

International labour solidarity works.

That's the message we need to spread throughout our unions as we build support for LabourStart's other online campaigns.
