Paov,
Three years on the job and Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, has done nothing to lower our exorbitant cell phone bills.
Despite admitting that the digital divide is “unacceptable”1 and despite the thousands of emails and calls to his office demanding that he addresses wireless affordability, the Minister’s response has been all talk.
That is why, with your help, we ramped up our efforts to put pressure on Bains to walk the talk and do something to lower your cellphone bill. We put bus stop ads right by Parliament in Ottawa so that the Minister knows we're hungry for real action, not just talk.
By real action, we mean Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) — smaller wireless providers to boost competition in the market, disrupt the Big Three’s well established monopoly and thus give people in Canada more wireless choice (and lower bills, once and for all!).
THANK YOU for making these ads happen Paov!! Your generous support allowed us to make these a reality. We put up three ads in the following locations:
- Bank St. 60 ft North of Queen St.
- Wellington St. 84 m West of Bank St.
- Wellington St. 15 m East of O'Connor St.
Did you or anyone you know happen to spot them by any chance? We’d love to hear about it! And please take a minute to share our photos with your friends to spread the word on this successful community effort via Facebook, Twitter or by simply forwarding this email.
Public facing ads have proven to be an effective way not only to catch attention from decision makers and the media, but to help hold those in power accountable.
Thanks again for making this possible and stay tuned for the next phase in the fight for lower cell phone bills!
Marie, on behalf of OpenMedia
