EXPOSED: a new study shows that, as well as being potentially cancerous, Monsanto’s toxic weed-killer Roundup may have FATAL effects on bees.
Governments could ban the chemical killer, but they’re being pushed and pulled by Monsanto’s lobbyists.
Can you chip in CA$91 so that SumOfUs can launch a hard-hitting new website and ad campaign that gets Monsanto’s Roundup banned for good?
A,
The glyphosate chemical in Monsanto’s Roundup could be killing bees. Sprayed on crops, in... gardens and on roadside verges -- it’s hard for any bee to escape it. And unless we can speed up a full ban, more and more bees will suffer.
This toxic weedkiller is already on the rocks -- it’s facing thousands of lawsuits for being potentially carcinogenic, and governments are considering restrictions and bans. But Monsanto’s lobbyists are fighting hard to keep their pesticide licenses.
That’s where SumOfUs members like you and I come in. Together, we can launch a huge new campaign -- telling Europe’s politicians to protect bees and ban Roundup now.
Can you chip in CA$91 so that SumOfUs can reboot tactics that worked for our neonics campaign -- but targeting Monsanto’s Roundup this time? First we’ll place huge ads in front of the EU in Brussels and build a website so that people across Europe can contact their MEPs. But we can’t get started until we raise enough. Are you in?
Yes, I'll chip in CA$91 to launch a campaign to save the bees from Monsanto’s Roundup.
Bees and other insects feed the world -- they pollinate three-quarters of all crops. But bees are dying off at a catastrophic rate and chemical pesticides are a key culprit.Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup, has caused concerns over its potential risk to human health and the environment for decades. Now, new research shows that glyphosate may be indirectly contributing to the decline of honeybees and native bees around the world.
Scientists from the University of Texas in Austin found that glyphosate in Monsanto’s Roundup damages the good bacteria in honeybee guts, making them more prone to deadly infections.
Together, SumOfUs members like you have fought hard to protect Europe’s bees. This year we won a historic ban on three major bee-killing pesticides -- and got our politicians on-side to save the bees. But now the bees are at risk again -- so it’s time to persuade the EU to ban Monsanto’s Roundup for good.
Yes, I'll chip in CA$91 to launch a campaign to save the bees from Monsanto’s Roundup.
We’ve already won half the argument -- earlier this year the EU voted to ban three neonic pesticides because of the risk to bees. Let’s do it again.
First, we need help from SumOfUs members like you chipping in. Our campaigning to protect bees doesn’t get any funding from big institutions, so we can’t launch powerful tactics to challenge industry heavyweights like Monsanto without you.
Can you chip in so that SumOfUs can place adverts in Brussels to put pressure on the EU to finally ban Monsanto’s Roundup?
Yes, I'll chip in CA$91 to launch a campaign to save the bees from Monsanto’s Roundup.
Thanks for all that you do,
Rebecca, Tom, Eoin and the team at SumOfUs
