Trans Mountain

The NEB are not expecting a lot of comments from us -- they've made it about as difficult as possible to participate (you need a fax machine or need to send a letter in the mail!). But we're not going to let that stop us. By clicking below, you can add your voice now.

Trudeau is trying to ram the Trans Mountain pipeline through despite the Supreme Court’s decision to quash the project.

The deadline to submit a comment on the scope of the new hearings for the pipeline is TOMORROW -- can you add your voice now?

A,

The National Energy Board (NEB) is giving members of the public and other affected stakeholders until TOMORROW to add their voice to shape the new review of the controversial Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.

This is a ridiculous timeline. Giving folks a few days to add their voices to such a critical process is unreasonable and proof the Trudeau government has no intention of getting this process right.

With a comprehensive review, this project would likely be doomed -- and the government knows it. That’s why we need to fight to have the review process include Indigenous consent, a climate assessment and an up-to-date business case. If you can believe it, the NEB won't accept anything accept snail mail or faxes from the public -- but we've got a tool that lets you send a fax to the NEB right now with just a few clicks:

With only one day left, will you add your critical comment to the NEB now? We’ve made a simple tool that makes it fast and easy!

On Aug. 30, I wept tears of relief when the Federal Court quashed Trudeau's November 2016 approval of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. The court ruled that the NEB had failed to adequately consider the impact of increased tanker traffic on the marine environment and an endangered population of southern resident killer whales.

The court also found that the government had failed in its constitutional duty to meaningfully consult First Nations.

This win was because of Indigenous leadership. Many members of this community also tirelessly worked to stop this project.

In days, the NEB will finalize its review process, and has only given the public until tomorrow to weigh in. That's why they needs to hear loud and clear from thousands of us right now that there are critical flaws in this new review process -- and that we demand they be meaningfully addressed.

Adding your voice to the public record on the scope of these hearings is important. The government is hoping you won’t. The more comments they receive, the more they will know we will not stand for another sham process.

Will you please take a minute to add your comment now -- we only have until tomorrow. Your comment will go directly to the NEB.

Many, many members of this community fought for years in support of First Nations leading this fight -- by signing petitions, chipping in a few dollars, giving proxies to their shares to attend Kinder Morgan shareholder meetings, attending protests, and so much more.

This is one incredibly powerful thing we can do right now is to let the government and NEB know that we won't allow a bankrupt process to try and ram a pipeline through. You can't meaningfully address the fundamental problems that came out of the first review process while changing virtually nothing about how the new review process will be done. That's not radical, it's common-sense.
