The U.N. climate report in October marked a huge shift how climate change is perceived. It is now main stream to talk about a present climate emergency. We know that Central American migrants are fleeing problems, including crop failures and poverty, exacerbated by climate change. And the interior of BC is already experienced a seemingly unending series of unprecedented floods and fires.

We are living in a time of climate emergency. But what can we do here in Greater Victoria? Rebecca Wolf Gage will present on the global Youth Climate Strike movement. Eric Doherty will present and show photographs on recent inspiring climate actions in European cities, and how similar measures could radically reduce climate pollution while making our region more affordable, healthier, and more just. An open discussion will follow the presentations.

Rebecca Wolf Gage is a Victoria Youth Climate Strike Organizer.

Eric Doherty is a member of the Better Transit Alliance of Greater Victoria, who recently spent three months in Europe.

Proceeds will be donated to Wet’suwet’en groups fighting to stop the Coastal GasLink fracked gas pipeline in northern BC.
