Video: Peace Valley Defenders Say No to Site C
Hello PAOV,
2013 sure was a wild ride! And we’re jumping right back into action this week, with public hearings resuming today over the proposed Site C Dam.
BC Hydro’s proposal to build a dam in the heart of British Columbia’s Peace River Valley threatens to flood over 100 kilometres of rich valley-bottom lands – including farmland, wildlife habitat, First Nations cultural sites and heritage sites.
The people of the region have spoken up time and time again, urging elected leaders to protect the Peace River Valley from the impacts of the Site C Dam. The project is in the midst of a joint federal-provincial review, and public hearings will be taking place in northern BC and Alberta until the end of January.
To help illustrate what’s at stake and why the Peace River Valley is so worth protecting, we’ve produced a short video featuring First Nations leaders, local farmers, politicians and citizens who say “No Dam Way!” to Site C.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has been criticized for not continuing to accept public comments while the regulatory hearings are still in session – and for refusing to hold hearings on the Site C Dam in other communities outside of the Peace region. We think people should continue to be allowed to participate in this process, which is why we are calling for your comments to be sent in NOW!
Take action today by writing to Canada's Environment Minister and the panel reviewing the Site C Dam proposal, and we’ll send a copy of your letter to BC Premier Christy Clark and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

You can help spread the word by sharing this video on social media, forwarding this email or telling your friends and family members to take action.
Let’s protect the Peace – stop the Site C Dam!
