Remembering Andree Scott
a summary of CASC tribute to Andree at Cafe Simpatico Nov. 29, 2019 follwed by a momeny silence
Andree Scott was dedicated member of CASC, a scholar, a sailor, teacher, tri-lingual aid worker but most of all she was a friend to many and much loved.
In the words of Tim, “ Her home was the source of so many gatherings that brought us all together, but above all, she was so lovely in so many ways - her smile, her dedication to social justice, her willingness to help people .... we have really lost a very special person!"
Andree had love for everyone and faith in our cause of solidarity – I believe she, as I do, felt that solidarity is just another word for love. As Marc Chagall said “In the arts, as in life, everything is possible provided it is based on love.”
This poem by Roque Dalton of El Salvador expresses my feelings about Andree. I also send 2 photos of Andree, taken in 2016 and in the summer of 2019.

Like
You
Like you, I
love love, life,
the sweet enchantment of small things,
the heavenly landscape of January days.
And my blood boils
up
and I laugh for eyes
which have known the fullness of tears
I
believe that the world is beautiful,
that poetry - like bread -
is for
everyone.
And that my veins don't end in me,
But in the unanimous
blood
of those who struggle for life,
Love,
Simple things
landscape and bread,
The poetry of everyone.
………………………….
