Do you have a boat/canoe/kayak or know someone who does? Do you want to help raise money for the legal cases against the Trans Mountain Pipeline?

We are holding a community paddle to raise money for First Nations such as the Tsleil-Waututh, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and Coldwater, who are taking the government to court to enforce their rights and protect our coast. These court cases may be our best shot of stopping the Trans Mountain pipeline before it causes irreparable environmental damage.

Raven Trust is raising funds to help First Nations pay for these legal challenges through their pulltogether.ca campaign – but so far, they are less than halfway to their fundraising goal. With hearings scheduled to begin as soon as Dec 16th , the time to stand in solidarity with First Nations is now.

On Saturday, Dec 14th at 10 AM, join local kayakers, canoeists, first nations, environmentalists, and concerned residents of all kinds at Banfield park dock for a family friendly community paddle in the Victoria Harbour. The event will feature a 1 hour paddle, a large on-the-water banner, and a community meal. All proceeds will go to Pull Together to fund the fight to protect our coast.

If you have a boat that you are able to bring, please reply to this email and let us know:

  1. If you will need any assistance getting your boat to/from Banfield park.
  2. If your boat can be filled by yourself and/or friends.
  3. If no to the above, whether you wish for anyone else to join you and/or if you wish to lend your boat, and if so, how many people you are requesting.
  4. Any additional requests or assistance that may be needed.

Also, if you have any additional items such as life jackets or paddles, please let us know, as we may need extra.
