Intact ecosystems more important than ever
Dear Paov,
This spring looks different than any other in our lives.
The changes, disruptions and new norms this pandemic has brought are unprecedented. But some things remain constant despite COVID-19, and one of those is the struggle to protect old-growth forests. This fight is not a new one, but this year could be the most important moment in determining the fate of these non-renewable, life-giving ecosystems.

That’s why it’s so critical that the members of the legislative assembly are inundated with calls from us in the coming months, reminding them that old-growth forests are non-renewable and must be protected.
We know governments only ever prioritize the things the public demands most vocally.
It’s time to make sure that in addition to responding to COVID-19, John Horgan’s government puts its talk into action and protects old-growth. If you’ve already signed our old-growth petition, you can send emails, make phone calls, and participate in social media blitzes and other actions again and again. At the same time, you can help grow the movement by sharing the petition and getting more activists involved in this campaign. Take Action Now At a time when other governments are calling for increased conservation of nature around the world to reduce the risk of future epidemics, it’s not right that ours is allowing the destruction of forests we’ll never get back.
BC policymakers need to hear from us that the time for talk is over. It’s time to protect the last old-growth forests in BC and ensure these ecosystems remain healthy for future generations.
