Week of Solidarity With Land Defenders: Update

Week of Solidarity With Land Defenders: Update r1 ... There has been a great response to the call by Indigenous Land Defenders from Coast to Coast for a national week of action in solidarity with their struggles! And it is not over!
On Friday November 27 Extinction Rebellion Vancouver will host the action in the lower mainland of British Columbia.

Facebook Event Page is HERE. Check in the morning for location.
In the lower mainland the week of solidarity and action will wind up this weekend on Burnaby Mountain, the terminus of the TransMountain Pipeline. We will send out details as we receive them.

On Monday Indigenous and settler allies blocked the main entrance to the port of Vancouver from noon to midnight while ceremony took place around a sacred fire. Click for short video clip. We also joined activists and supporters of the un-housed movement at the provincial court where charges were stayed in connection with the tent city at Crab Park in June. (Established after residents were forced out of Oppenheimer Park. Expelled from Port lands at Crab Park they now occupy Strathcona Park continues.)

Other live and virtual actions have taken place all week in multiple locations. In Ottawa, Ontario
there was a couple day intersection blockade organized by a new Black-Indigenous peoples alliance (13 arrests) and they are planning something for this weekend!! Supporters in North Bay took the occasion to contact federal cabinet ministers demanding respect for Indigenous rights and sovereignty.

Let us know about actions in your locale and we will share with the whole Unist'ot'en Support Network. Coast to Coast Call to Action

"The Indigenous people of the land have been under attack ever since the first invaders came to our shores. We have been defending our lands and protecting our waters for generations.

We have never stopped and we never will. Our laws demand that we uphold our sacred responsibilities, not only for ourselves, but the next seven generations. Our fight and love for our land and our people connect all Indigenous people.

From coast to coast we are united. We must stand in solidarity and defend our relatives that are being attacked by these invaders. Invaders that intend on destroying our land and water for profit and impeding our right to be free people.

As Indigenous grassroots people, on the frontlines, we call on you to join us in solidarity from Nov 23-29 as a national call to action to support and respect our sovereignty.

We call on you to demand justice for our people, to hold the companies committing acts of genocide accountable through direct action and rallies where you are.

We are one, we are united, and we will fight, together."
If you have actions organized locally you would like us to promote send us an email!
