Paov --
Here at the BC Health Coalition, the year 2020 brought our most historic victory yet! It was also a year of extreme pressure to our public health care system.
Thank you for supporting our work this year. Together we have made a difference on the health care issues that matter most in the lives of British Columbians. We couldn’t have done it without you.
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed long-standing cracks and failures in BC’s health care system. It also made it strikingly clear: when the health of the most vulnerable in our society is at risk, we all suffer. Now more than ever, there is public support and energy to strengthen universal, public health services.
With a landmark 880 page ruling in the Cambie Case, the BC Supreme Court has affirmed the value of sustainable and universal access to health care. In the court of public opinion, too, you have made clear your commitment to defend public health care and support evidence-driven public solutions. Together, we have delivered... a clear message to Brian Day and his supporters – access to health care in this province should be based on need and not on ability to pay.
We are gearing up for another full year of work defending and strengthening public health care in 2021. Will you help us meet our full potential in 2021 by making a year-end gift to the BC Health Coalition?
DONATEAs a supporter of the BC Health Coalition, your donations have helped to:
-
Defeat Brian Day in the BC Supreme Court. Read more about this
historic victory HERE.
Already, Dr. Day and his supporters are already preparing their appeal process. Will you make a contribution towards our team’s capacity to keep the pressure on during the appeal process in 2021? -
Win an expansion to MSP coverage for all uninsured people for
COVID-19 testing and treatment.
Unfortunately, the Ministry of Health reversed the decision in August 2020. Will you give to help us ensure all migrants in BC (including newly-landed permanent residents, temporary foreign workers, international students, and those who have been rendered undocumented) are covered as we are hit by the pandemic’s second wave? -
Advocate for public solutions to surgical backlogs.
Help us ensure that the holds placed on elective surgeries during the pandemic do not result in contracting out public surgeries to private surgical clinics, especially when proven public solutions that build the capacity of our health care system already exist. -
Pushed the provincial government to create a Community Health
Centre Partnership Table to explore how to successfully grow the CHC
model in BC.
Pledge your support for CHCs and help us ensure this Partnership Table’s recommendations will be implemented. -
Identify gaps in the continuum of seniors care, including home
support, home care, assisted living, and long term care.
Now it’s time to take the research and our knowledge of issues to the next level. Will you give now so we can organize powerful constituency for much-needed change in seniors care?

Even $10 a month makes a huge difference in our ability to defend public health care and put forward policy solutions to improve our health care system.
