Climate action puts pipeline underwater

Hi Paov,

For the first time, the federal government is acknowledging its construction of the Trans Mountain pipeline is at odds with its own climate goals. At least its own agencies and watchdogs are.

In recent weeks, the government’s experts are saying what Trudeau’s cabinet still won’t admit — the Trans Mountain pipeline is a waste of money. Can you demand they accept this reality?

Write your letter today! Trans Mountain pipeline protesters rally ahead of final Ottawa decision (2019) First, the Canadian Energy Regulator showed the pipeline won’t be needed if Canada even tries to meet its climate targets. And yesterday, the parliamentary budget officer went further and ran the numbers showing the pipeline would lose money for Canada in every realistic scenario.

It’s time for the federal Liberals to listen to their own experts and abandon this boondoggle. But it’s going to take an enormous public outcry to get them to face facts. We cannot let them simply repeat tired talking points about having both pipelines and climate action. Now is the time to force their hand. Write now! With land defenders and water protectors on the ground facing arrest for standing in the path of construction, it’s time to turn up the heat on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet. We’re going to need a herculean effort to get them to halt construction, but this movement has proven time and time again we can do the impossible.

Let’s do this. For the climate,

For the wild, r0.
