Call to stop old-growth logging

Call to stop old-growth logging

Our second BIG TREE TUESDAY phone blitz!

Hi Paov,

Your calls are making a difference.

Two weeks ago, well over a hundred people flooded the phone lines of Teal Jones, the Surrey-based logging company responsible for some of the most contentious logging in BC.

But the provincial government sanctions old-growth destruction, so this week our target is its head, Premier John Horgan.

In last fall’s election, Horgan promised to protect old-growth forests in BC. But we recently learned he’s being disingenuous and in the months since, non-renewable forest clearcutting has continued unabated.

Call him today and demand his government take real action to protect old-growth forests now!

Make my call This is a repeating tactic on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, with a different target each time.

We are targeting Horgan’s constituency office, as opposed to the Premier’s Office, because key old-growth forests like Fairy Creek are in Horgan’s own riding. The premier is dodging responsibility for the blockades at Fairy Creek and surrounding watersheds that’ve been going on for almost six months.

We need a just transition to sustainable second-growth forestry that honours and upholds Indigenous sovereignty and respects ecological limits, and we have a right to demand this.

So take a few minutes to make your Big Tree Tuesday call today! Make my call After you make your call, use email or social media to invite your friends — the more people who take to the phones, the better.
