Decision-makers in Ottawa are currently determining how to allocate billions of our tax dollars, with a new federal budget just around the corner. This is a great time to remind them just how much Canadians care about a Green and Just Recovery – and the major investments needed to make it happen. To shape the Canada that we want to see, we’re asking the federal government to make critical investment decisions that:
- End fossil fuel subsidies and shift spending to a Green and Just Recovery,
- Deliver strong climate legislation, ambitious climate targets, and policies that enable climate justice,
- Protect 25% of land and ocean by 2025, and support Indigenous-led conservation, and
- Expand and leverage nature-based climate solutions.
Please send a letter now to your elected officials to let them know that you demand meaningful investments in a Green and Just Recovery. Take action now The Green Budget Coalition – made up of organizations from across Canada, including West Coast – has provided detailed recommendations for a range of federal investments needed to protect biodiversity, fight climate change and advance reconciliation. You can read more about the Green Budget Coalition’s recommendations here.
The situation for our planet and our communities is urgent – please join us now to call for the smart fiscal decisions that are needed to rise to the challenge.
Sincerely,
