Dear Friends of SJS,
Victoria Friends of Cuba invite you to join us on the:
The caravan will start from Blanshard St. in Victoria following a route across the main roads of the city. Present health norm will be respected.
Let us know if you can join us, so we can prepare accordingly.
In Victoria our Caravan will be in unison with caravans around the globe in demanding an end to the criminal, immoral, genocidal, and illegal blockade that the US has imposed against Cuba.
During Trump’s term, 220 measures were further imposed to cause harm to the island's economy and the Cuban people.
The U.S. blockade against Cuba has been the longest blockade ever imposed on any country. Along with 187 countries who voted against the blockade at the U.N. General Assembly in 2019 and the 12 million Cubans who keep suffering because of it, we call on the... U.S. to end such criminal action and respect international laws, Cuban sovereignty and its independence.
Join us & let’s call for the End of this Madness!
In solidarity,
Victoria Friends of Cuba

Stop Trans Mountain: Draw the Red Line!
From Dogwood:
While the rest of us have had our hands tied by the COVID-19 pandemic, Trans Mountain has been barreling ahead with construction.
Though only a tiny fraction of pipe has actually been laid, the pace is picking up in the Lower Mainland. Trees are being cleared in the Brunette conservation area as the company snubs its nose at federal and provincial regulations that were conditions of its approval, and acres of precious wetland habitat at Colony Farm are about to be bulldozed.
Enough is enough!
All along the pipeline route, communities are stepping up to demonstrate their ongoing opposition to this project, to a government that chooses to spend billions of our tax dollars on a fossil fuel export project in the midst of an ever-worsening climate crisis.
Sure, Texas just experienced an unprecedented extreme weather event leaving millions shivering in the dark. But let’s just keep expanding the mostly foreign-owned oil sands rather than invest in the renewable energy grid we know we need.
On Sunday, March 28, South Islanders are coming together to express their contempt for the TMX pipeline. As we’ve seen with the actions of President Biden cancelling Keystone XL, real leadership is possible, and we’re calling on our government to exhibit some at this critical time.
Join us for a COVID-safe “Red Line” demonstration in Victoria on Sunday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m on Dallas Road.
This is not a rally or a gathering, and all pandemic protocols will be followed. Participants will spread out at a distance of 2 meters along the length of Dallas Road in a show of defiance against Trans Mountain and solidarity with Indigenous land defenders who continue to carry so much of the weight in this fight.
Here are the details on how to participate in this peaceful demonstration of opposition to TMX. Invite your friends and neighbours — we’ll amplify your efforts and ensure Justin Trudeau hears our message loud and clear: Climate Leaders Don’t Build Pipelines! https://www.facebook.com/events/3957003087727540?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[%7B%22extra_data%22%3A%22%22%2C%22mechanism%22%3A%22surface%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22permalink%22%7D%2C%7B%22extra_data%22%3A%22%22%2C%22mechanism%22%3A%22surface%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22edit_dialog%22%7D]%7D&mkt_tok=Nzc0LVNITy0yMjgAAAF74Z3HBeVN0xBXxPgiFusXJ9eiZKU4O3Sy6uUXTgFpZmgvES9QDbcnS1UHxC3SQEM2ij_RJwjbzY0ARKlAvV2-kP0-Nb0i8iQFTkAJGnTwKt8
Looking forward to standing 2 metres apart with you,
Cheryl
