Dear Paov,
Last summer, West Coast Environmental Law started a conversation around environmental racism experienced by Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC) and marginalized communities in BC and Canada - which often leaves these communities more vulnerable to and disproportionately impacted by environmental challenges.
To continue this important dialogue and look at how we can respond to these injustices effectively, West Coast Environmental Law will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, August 26th about what environmental justice looks like in action.

Together, we’ll explore approaches to advance environmental justice through an anti-oppressive lens. What are the links between oppression, law, and environmental issues? How do we prevent reproducing systemic violence in environmental justice work? How can we transform the legal landscape and harness legal tools to challenge oppressive systems?
Hear from West Coast experts and panelists about how different legal tools and strategies can be used to help level the playing field and protect land, water and communities – with solutions grounded in both Indigenous and Canadian law. This event will also include a Q&A and discussion period.
