Tell Ontario to honour the treaties

Tell Ontario to honour the treaties r1 ...

We are all treaty people

Hi Paov,

Many people think of treaty rights as “special” Indigenous rights. However, treaties are a foundational part of Ontario. All lands, water and people are bound by treaties with Indigenous Peoples. Every road, house, building or business that exists today was made possible because of a treaty.

Working towards reconciliation with First Nations means honouring the treaties and Indigenous inherent rights they enshrine. However, the provincial government continues to fight First Nations seeking justice through treaties.

Write my letter today! The 21 First Nations of the Robinson-Huron Treaty have been in court since 2012 to rectify government breach of the treaty regarding annual payments for resource extraction on their traditional territory. While the federal government has agreed to negotiate, Ontario continues to appeal court decisions that
favour First Nations. This is the exact opposite of reconciliation — and reflects badly on all Ontarians. Tell Ontario to honour treaty obligations We are all treaty people. Demand Ontario negotiate with Robinson-Huron First Nations.
