At-risk species are calling for help

At-risk species are calling for help r1 ...

Will you answer the call?

Dear Paov,

You and I know we’re in a worldwide biodiversity crisis — but the BC government? Not so much. Because where they’ve failed to act, you and I had to step up to fill in the gaps to prevent extinction.

With your help, we’ve documented at-risk marbled murrelets and evaluated the province’s commitments to habitat protection. We investigated logging plans in caribou habitat and brought them to a halt in Argonaut Creek. And we’ve hammered the BC government for failing to implement a species at risk law as they promised.

Because of you, we’ve been on the ground documenting species and exposing logging plans that will impact their habitat — a crucial first step to their protection. Together, we’ve gone even further to get habitat protected and halted chainsaws from logging in areas the size of 475 soccer fields in caribou habitat.

But we can’t be everywhere at once. If this year taught us anything, it’s that the laws we have in the province are failing wildlife. Even when we confirmed and raised the alarm that endangered species are living in an area, there was no law that could save the habitat.

We need standalone legislation in BC to protect species at risk. But we can’t do this without you. Next year we’ll be pulling all the stops to get a law. From research to on-the-ground investigation to potential legal actions, we won’t stop until at-risk species are protected permanently.

Will you join us to save all the incredible wildlife in BC heading for extinction with a year-end gift today?

I’ll answer the call with my gift! Your generosity today will fund the necessary policy research, field investigations and public outreach needed to advocate for a law. Any amount you can give today has an impact.

Thank you again for making our critical work in BC possible. Wishing you and yours a safe and happy winter season.

For the wildlife,
