Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons
Request for action by February 14, 2022!
Dear friends, Canadians Call on NATO: Reduce Nuclear Risks
Are you concerned as we are about the casual talk about the use of nuclear weapons? The Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons is a network of groups working for the elimination of nuclear weapons. We seek the support of civil society groups in Canada for the “Canadians Call on NATO: Reduce Nuclear Risks” statement that is attached in English and French. NATO is revising its rules of the game (the NATO Strategic Concept) on use of weapons in conflicts. We are concerned about the risk posed by nuclear weapons, particularly now with threats being exchanged between Russia and NATO states.
We hope to receive strong support from unions, professional associations, community organizations, service and ethnic groups. If you’d like more information on the statement, please respond with your questions.
Please respond by February 14th to let us know if your group agrees to be listed as a supporter of this statement. Our last... major call for endorsements resulted in support from over 70 Canadian groups.
If you are unable to signal your support by Feb. 14th, please advise us as soon as possible of your support. We will occasionally update the list on our website.
What else can you do? 1. Please share this request with any faith, community, environmental, health, professional and service groups with which you are connected. Please ask them to support this statement.
2. Share this link through Facebook, Twitter or email with your contacts. With gratitude for your consideration of this request at this critical time,Bev DelongFmr Chairpersonon behalf of Dr. Sylvie Lemieux and Robin Collins, Co-Chairpersons, Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons
