Nuchatlaht are in court to get their land back
Hi Paov,
The Nuchatlaht Nation are fighting in the BC Supreme Court to get their land back through a groundbreaking title case starting on March 21! Their hahoulthee (territory) includes a large part of Nootka Island off the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island which has been impacted by industrial logging and fishing for almost a century at the hands of the BC government and giant corporations.

Speakers will include:

Nuchatlaht’s Ha’with (Chief) Jordan Michael

Jack Woodward RSVP Despite passing legislation around the rights of Indigenous peoples and promising to do better, the BC government has continued to throw up obstacles and fight against the Nuchatlaht.
Public support is key to winning this precedent-setting case. Come see what you can do to help this tiny nation win their fight for sovereignty!
For the wild,

Wilderness Committee P.S. Nuchatlaht community members want to be in Vancouver to witness the opening of this historic court case. Most Nuchatlaht members live on Vancouver Island, and they need our support to get to the city! All funds raised here will help cover transportation costs and accommodations for band members.
