Our chance to change the course
Hi Paov,
Floods, fires and ever-expanding industrial expansion don’t just impact you and me. Throughout Canada, half of the monitored wildlife populations are declining and more species are faced with extinction than ever before.
Decisions on industrial projects must weigh the impacts on at-risk wildlife and their habitat. We need laws that can halt or alter projects that contribute to extinction. However, throughout the country, those laws are missing and where they do exist, they’re weak.
Our latest report, Turning the Clock Back on Extinction, highlights how we’re allowing wildlife to fade out of existence. We describe how everyday life is made possible by the diverse array of life, from fungi to killer whales. We expand on what’s causing extinction and we grade Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Canada on their laws to protect at-risk wildlife. Finally, we share a vision for the future where life is cherished by default, versus today where the default is destruction.

Thank you for helping ensure we’re doing all we can, together, to protect life-giving biodiversity across the country.
For the wild,
