Stop logging plans for Teapot Valley

Hi Paov,

I’ve recently returned from the Nahatlatch River forest road in the Fraser Canyon region to check out an unlogged side drainage — the Teapot Valley. What I found there was both uplifting and terrifying at the same time.

Teapot Valley's old-growth forest habitat is critical for the recovery of Canada's endangered spotted owl population and now it is threatened by a logging plan. This incredibly scenic wildlife-rich region is within the unceded territory of the Nlaka'pamux Nation.

Will you help defend the Teapot Valley in the Nahatlatch watershed from proposed logging? Write your letter today to BC Premier John Horgan and elected representatives!

Write my letter today! Watch this short video of my trip up the Nahatlatch River forest road! The BC government has claimed that it’s taking steps to halt logging of priority old-growth forests and endangered wildlife habitat. We hope this promise will eventually come true — but at Teapot Valley, a very different story is unfolding.

Logging company, Western Canadian Timber Products, has proposed several cutblocks within the pristine Teapot Valley in priority old-growth forests and spotted owl habitat. The province has mapped this area so they know of its ecological value. And even though the company hasn't been granted permission to log by the province it's gone ahead and extended its logging road right up to the entrance of Teapot Valley!

We’ve put the provincial and federal governments on notice that logging of spotted owl habitat must stop now. We’re so close. Important mapping of critical habitat by the government of Canada is almost complete.

But Teapot Valley can't wait another minute. Action is needed now. Plans to log must end. Road building must stop. TAKE ACTION The fate of a rare intact valley with pristine old-growth forest and the future of a highly endangered species hang in the balance. Let your written words be a powerful force for nature.
